One of the attractions of Africa is going on a safari. If you do it in the right season, it can become an unforgettable experience to see those impressive wild animals in the open. I went on safaris in many countries, but Etosha remains my favourite. The park is enormous (more than half the size of my home country!) and it is relatively easy to spot wildlife. As an additional attraction, there is the Etosha Pan, a depression in the earth which used to be a lake. Now it has turned into a formidable dry white area. 
Etosha has also been dubbed as 'The Great White Place' and it is not difficult to see why. In some areas we even found that the trees looked white as if it had snowed.
Going on a safari is a thrill to me, probably one of the most unpredictable adventures. You never know which animal you are going to see, and when. So you have to look into bushes, under stones and trees, in the shadow and in the sun, to spot one animal or another.
And most have perfectly camouflaged colours, too. The obvious places to go to are the watering holes, where wildlife gathers to get something to drink. They are the local bars for all living creatures, attracting elephants, herds of giraffe and zebra, impala and gazelle, as well as lion and hyena. It is incredible to see that while lion are eating an impala that had not been able to escape their hungry claws in time, her family are having a drink just metres away. The wild can be peaceful...
