Just a 40-minute train ride from the capital takes you to the sea-side village of Humlebæk, from where it is a short stroll to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Here, you can not only enjoy modern art inside the museum, but also walk around the spacious gardens, lawns and trees where you can find sculptures. What is more, you have splendid views over the sound of Sweden and you can actually see the Swedish coastline.
The museum was founded in 1958 and has grown considerably ever since. The work on display here comes from world-famous artists like Giacometti, PIcasso and Warhol, as well as Danish artists. Apart from the permanent collection, there are also temporary exhibitions with a theme, and they always attract work of renowned artists, both Danish and international. Unfortunately, during my visit part of the permanent exhibition was closed for renovation. 
Apart from the art on display inside, it is certainly a must to go outside as well. It is a special experience to walk on the lawn, on the paths, see the art on display outside, see some of the art inside through the windows, the trees and the small lake plus the views on the sea, giving the impression that you are in a countryside full of art. Actually, some of the extensions of the museum have been built underground to preserve the garden, a vital part of the museum. All together, the museum, the art outside and the space surrounding the museum make for an integral art experience.
