Undoubtedly one of the most romantic capitals in the world, Paris certainly appeals to visitors from every corner of our planet. A city symbolized by Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe, by Notre Dame or Sacré Coeur, but also co-capital of fashion. Definitely the centre of France, the beginning and end of most train lines, nearly anyone visiting this country has to end up in the city sooner or later. It can also, perfectly, be a destination all of itself.
A beautiful time to visit is in spring, when trees blossom, when flowers are everywhere, and where love is in the air almost literally. The weather can already be very pleasant in April, the last time I visited this capital. There is such an overwhelming amount of things to do, it is almost impossibile to even start naming them. Visiting museums, the Versailles Palace, Champs Elysées, or even going up the Eiffel Tower (expect waiting times!) can be all time well spent. Just walking around the typical quarters, admiring the elegant architecture and strolling along the borders of the River Seine are all part of any visit to Paris. I remember that after my first visit my feet hurt for days on end - visiting Paris inevitably requires a lot of walking.
One of my favourite museums in this city is Rodin, sometimes overlooked and skipped for its greater brothers Louvre and Orsay. For me, the attraction of Rodin is its peaceful atmosphere, the fact that the museum includes some very pleasant gardens, and of course the smooth, at times almost soft statues that are part of the collection. Another attraction in Paris are the many creperies, stalls where you can get crepes (thin pancakes) with almost anything on it. Which can only be a prelude to the thousands of places where a tasteful French lunch or dinner can be enjoyed. My last visit to Paris was a prelude to something else - the Paris Marathon.
