Excellent site. I have seen few sites organized and thorough as this one. And what is more important the "traveler, writer, Photographer..." hasn't been selfish and shared the photos and adventuring experience with site visitors. Mister, all the best in your future traveling adventures.

I was in Lithuania in the summer of 2002 with my then girlfriend, and we both loved the sceneries and the hospitality of your country. Trakai was particularly nice, and we managed to rent an entire house for a few days there.

After a stay in Sweden some years ago, I have ever afterward felt
"homesick" for the lovely land and people I discovered there. Your pictures gladden my heart and refresh my memories. I thank you for such a magic key to get back to Sweden!

Great site!
I was born and raised in Ghana...I felt so homesick looking at your photos! My parents currently live in Zimbabwe...lovely pics of that country too!
I compose electronic music...I wrote a piece called Elmina, inspired by the town I hope to eventually retire to.
You can listen to Elmina and other tracks at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/4/isol8music.htm

Thank you again for the photos!

I teach 2nd grade and I cannot tell you how absolutely vital this site is to my lesson plans. We learn about communities in other countries and your pictures show it all. Kids need visual stimuli and better, real life/community pictures, rather than the same, small, well known pictures that publishers choose to put in books. This is especially important when learning about something totally foreign to them. Today they were excited about the cube houses in Holland, and last year the ice bar in Sweden thrilled them. I'm so glad you keep this site up, and I will continue to use it each year. Thanks so much.

Poxa, eu entrei nesse site crente que ia achar maravilhas do meu país querido, e só vejo umas fotinhas mal feitas e Iguaçu escrito com 'z', é impossível isso. Kralho, o que custava procurar mais um pouco? Pegar as melhores fotos?

hi. i read your entry on singapore, and as a singaporean, feel than you have truly wronged my people. most people pictures us singaporeans to be rather cold and unhelpful, but in fact, its beacuse the ;lifestyle we live, a fast paced lifestyle, hardly offers much chances for this helpfulness to be demonstarted. this does not mean we arent helpful. singaporeans are one of the most kind-hearted people i have come across. we make tremendous efforts to help all our charities, and even extend help to various communities. For example, nepalese twins, ganga and jumuna. when they had inufficient funds to tide over the many times subsidiesed fees, singaporeans raised money to help pay. singaporeans reached out to them, and made them feel at home. Just this year, we were the only country who took on the heavy burden to help ladan and laleh, iranian siamese twins. no other doctor wanted this burden. although it was a failed operation, we saw how singaporeans raised funds for them, sharing time with them. not for fame, not for glory, just to help out. perhaps you might have come acroos the wrong person. give our country another chance. when you really get to know singaporeans, you'll notice that deep down, we have a heart of gold.

Hello,
Compliment of the season to you and how is life generally, With hope that this e-mail will find you in good emotional condition. My name is Marry Martins, I`m 25 years old.
knowing fully well that race, religion and nationality can give no hindrance to friendship or penpal relation as it is one of the best ways to exhange ideas with people in different countries. I decided to have you as my pal and would like it to be extended up to a deep and lasting relationship, I am a single lady, working with the Global Youth Welfare, Canada. I really consider friendship or courtship as a serious thing, open in everything, be honest, and above all faithfulness to each other. I will brief you more about my self. By the special grace of God I will visit Africa for the first time by April next year.

I am one of the organising committee of the youth combined conference taking place in Canada on the 7th-10th of July,2003 and also holding in Africa from the 13th - the 16th of July,2003. I will be so happy if we can both make the trip.I will like to hear from you soonest about your self.

Thanks

Marry Martins, Canada.

Its bad enough that I keep getting spammed to death by these credit card debt offers. It seems like everywhere I turn I see
ads for repair
credit this and that. Now these companies are posting messages on your guest book to advertise their credit
counseling services? Give me a break! Maybe some of us don’t mind having bad credit and
just want to use the Internet in peace. Post your junk elsewhere. none.

Haven't been to this site for awhile (have been overseas!), and have enjoyed browsing through all the comments ... and found one from Porec in Croatia - we went there in November last year (2002)! (visited Eastern Europe, Spain & UK) Porec is on the north-west coast of Croatia (Italian side) in the Istria region. It wasn't quite 'tourist season', but we enjoyed our short stay. The Euphemia Baptistry is amazing and we found a great caffe/bar in an old medieval tower! Didn't have time to go south to Dubruvnik (probably better in spring/summer anyway), but maybe one day...? Also enjoyed Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia & Hungary. Go there before the Euro takes over, as Western Europe is so much more expensive now (esp. for anyone on Aussie dollars!!)

In August 2002, I had the opportunity as a graduate student (Masters in Social Work) of Saint Louis University to visit Ghana. While in Kamasi, my group visited several historical and unforgettable landmarks. I am pleased that this site is available, because it gave me the chance to talk with students, professors, and my community about my Ghana experience. Excellent website.

Thank you for your pictures of Lithuania. It is nice to see it as it is today, since some of us cannot get back there every year.

My relatives visit yearly, even President George W. Bush and Laura Bush visited just before the holidays. So, your pictures, show it's true beauty to all those who are not able to see it in person.

Aciu! (Thank you in Lithuanian)

The Azorean pictures brought me into a "land of remembrance". I was born on São Miguel, the group's largest island, and was christened and received my first Holy Communion at São Roque's Church - the church shown in your pictures. I even remember when, as a boy, I would scramble down the hill adjoining the church to go swimming in my "Nature" suit, completely unconcerned that, up above, adults were looking. There were even times when I and other boys would climb up the steeple through its dark insides and, with Fr. Monteiro's permission, ring the heavy bell - not to announce anything, but just to ring it.

Thanks for your great gift down my memory lane.

Hi to all you, I am Gianna and I am a mama, I like to travel and despite my baby (Alex) is 3 years old only, I can not agreed to stay without travel and visiting new countries, therefore I have to watch out for choose villages and places very equipped and First... enough safety. Last February we have been in Thailand.
May be you are thinking that it is a destination for sexual tourism only... but you are wrong, becouse there are some place as KRABI in the south, where all is divinely; the sea is amazing, the Jungle is a dream and above all the people is fantastic.
Before departing I have made my usual search in Internet about the equipped villages, and recommended by many persons, my baby and I are went in this village with the funny name Frittomisto, where we have found a very good babysitter service and a valid assistance too, besides all the feeling and the whole atmosphere of that village is a little magic.

Alex was been very well and accordingly I have been very happy, but anyway KRABI - AO NANG BEACH ...are very beautiful.
If you want write me I will be very happy to answer you.

Congratulations! Great language software and travel links though I'd urge anybody investing in a multimedia cd-rom based language course be it in English, Spanish, German etc NOT to choose the Auralog Tell Me More courses as the language sequencing is appalling and pedagogical approach very suspect. I teach all three languages and in 17 years of doing so in FSI and other government programs, I'd say that the Rosetta Stone courses are far better. If you're in ESOL, and you can afford it, DynEd is your best bet. The latter two company's products also work on Macs. Jay

Beautiful Site, I couldn't stop looking at all the pictures. I thought the Wall St. one was funny. One thing I was kind of dissapointed to not see is that there was no las vegas pictures. It still looks great though. Thanks for making such a lovely site that we all can look at every once and a while to have a vacation in our own homes. I always wanted to see some of those places. I also have never heared of some of them.
Anyway
Beautiful Site

Keep up the Work it is awesome,

Great site! I am the editor at The Long Trip Home: an online literary magazine for travelers: http://www.thelongtriphome.com . We are always looking at travel sites that are in a similar vein as ours, and yours really is a great site. We'd be interested in linking to you, if that's okay? I enjoyed your pictures, but I was very disappointed in your site about Singapore. I have stayed in the country many times and lived there for 2 years. Why would you expect it to have "ancient" tradition when it has not even been a country for 40 years? It's amazing the technological advances that the country has made, and surpassed the U.S. in the process. And there is no law forbidding bringing your own gum into the country. The reason they don't sell it is because AMERICAN kids there started sticking it b/w the metro (subway) doors and people couldn't get out! The nightlife, restaurants, shopping, and even hawker stall food is fabulous there. If you're looking for homemade huts, poverty-stricken traditional culture, or ancient historic sites you are looking in the wrong place, but if you like a clean, really safe city that never stops with a definite Asian twist-look no further.

Forest Recreation Sites to be cancelled
The grinches in Victoria have announced that all of the popular Forest Recreation Sites in the province will be either administered by a different authority or done away with completely. Given this mean-spirited government's brief record, look for the latter choice to prevail. The reason given for this change is to allow the Ministry of Forests to focus on what it does best: denuding the hills and valleys of the province. In addition to these rustic campgrounds, a number of campgrounds admininistered under the aegis of BC Parks are being eliminated. What will they steal next, Xmas?

This site was a life saver, I've been looking for soooo very long to find some of the most beautiful pictures as I have seen here today. I absolutley love your site, so do my parents. We are Trinidadians that have been living in Canada for 5 years now and it is absolutely refreshing to see such heart warming pictures of our country. I also think it was a great idea to post pictures of the crazy signs there are in Trinidad and Tobago, it definitely shows the true innocence of our people. As to the fella from San fernando that placed the obscene comment. I just wanted to say to him that you can state your opionion and make a point without being insultive and especially RACIST! He is not at all a reflection of my people.BY AND LARGE WE ARE MUCH BETTER EDUCATED THAN THIS! We welcome everyone to experience the wonderful land that we come from, and to interpret things in their own way. I do not find this site at all offensive, in fact I thank you greatly for including Trinidad and Tobago in your wonderful site.

i can't believe people like u ...u leave from where ever u come from and come to my beautiful island and all u can do is laugh at a poster on a bar wall....people like u have no right to travle..you should stay under the rock that you came from...for ur information we are a peaceful people , we don't like obscean language..and u can't serve drinks to people who are not properly dressed... and seeing a poster of a beautiful woman in a bikni was probably a shock for you after comming from a place fill with overweight ugly pale people..cultureless , closeminded people like you make me sick, you really should stay where you belong, we don't need you to negativly protray our beautiful island...how dare u ...just who do you think you are...what gives you the right...your skin colour.??

it was a terrible event that will live with any decent human being for ever, september the 11th will be remembered on a much larger scale but the same heart ache as the passing of Princess Diane and the like of Mother Teresa. I was so proud when our Prime Minister (President) announced straight after this terribe event that he would stand shoulder to shoulder with America until terrorisim is wiped out. it's a large task but we have hope and most of the decent countries of this world on our side, but most of all i'd say determanation. my cousin serves with HMS Army,Royal Engineers and said to me when he was on home leave at Christmas that if sent into a war zone he would do his best and would be prepared to die for Great Britain and her best and proudest allies the USA. michael leach, Great Britain, mayGod be with you and all our allies.

I've read your pages about my country:some are tru but many aren't!Romania is a beautiful country and worth seen it.The majority of the pictures are old and taken from the rong angle (the places look nicer in real life).ANd leave Ceausecu alone, each country had a Ceausescu but Romania seems that had 100 of him from your point of view. We are a prowd and beautiful country and we don't need the help and donations af the "civilized" world. don't forget that the cradel of europe's civilization was Romanian and Greek places.
Hope to get to see all of my beautiful country soon!

What a disgrace! YOUR PAGE ON MOMBASA IS FULL OF INACCURACIES! I have travelled & lived in East Africa for over 11 years & NEVER have I experienced the outrageous train experiences you recount here. I found the Kenyan people especially at he coast where teh beautiful Mombasa paradise is located to be very warm, friendly, outgoing & not all chaunistic as you want some of us to believe.
I also doubt if you took any interest in displaying the city's image accuartely. For heavens' sake, there are plenty of beautiful breath-taking images of Mombasa that you could use in place of the odd "TV" repair store, oh & the building you showed is actually the Kenyan parliament located in the VERY MODERN capital Nairobi.
Great work with the website but try & represent Africa & many dveloping countries actually. Here in the West, it's no longer fancy to portaray places as "wild", "backward" or "underdeveloped" , many more Westerners are seeing the world as more than this.

Have just discovered this site & think it's great! Has anyone any thoughts on Myanmar (formerly Burma)? My son has not long returned from there. He stayed with his Burmese friend, Thet (&Thet's family) in the Rangoon area, but also travelled north on his own to Mandalay by bus (a rough trip of 18 hours one way!). He enjoyed some time near Inle Lake on the way back & was extremely impressed with the whole country!

Dear Colleagues,

I am a VERY Senior Citizen . . . and, have just signed up with this site . . . I am GREATLY interested in travel, especially the United Kingdom . . . my father was born there and I have a great yearning for it and all its people . . . hope to live out the remainder of my days there somehom or other....would hope to see more info anent UK on this site.

Would be delighted to have notes back and forth with anyone who is intimately familiar with Cornwall, Kent, Devon, Dorset . . . or, any other locality where I might be able to find an Agatha Christie and/or "something similar" cottage . . . right this moment, I cannot recall the name of the other "something dsimilar" author . . . right on the tip of my tongue but won't come out any further.

You are to be greatly complimented on your website and I am eagerly looking forward to many enjoyable moments resulting therefrom.

Kindest regards,

Hi,
I just wanted to tell you that I disagree with your opening
"picture" of Asia, and Singapore in particular.

I've recently spent a month traveling in/around Asia and found the people of Singapore (in particular) NOT "hidden behind a mask of culture, language, and religion."

As a "foreigner" I was welcomed openly and everyone I met was warm and extremely helpful. Believe me as a native New Yorker, I interact daily with all cultures and can tell the difference between false-warmth and intentional distance.

While it is true that in some areas there are masses of people that can be overwhelming, it is no different than NYC almost 12 months of the year. While there are seemingly mystery around every corner, and people "don't all look european", I did run into several expats who said they would never come back to the US and they love their new home.

If you're not up to eating beyond Morton's Steak and McDonalds, you might find the food different, but the food is fresh and the pepper crab is amazing.

I completely enjoyed my month traveling in Asia, and would I go back to Singapore...definately. They all spoke English, I could use my cell phone while underground in the train (try that in NY) and the shopping amazing.

Please don't turn folks off...let them try it...they might like it.

Sincerely,

Monique Green

I had the pleasure of making a side-trip from Singapore to Pulau Ubin with the designer of this site. Later I admired the photos of our mountainbike trip on this site and the professional design of it. Worthwhile visiting this site before setting off on a trip.

I thought you really visited all towns and cities in Kazakhstan as it was written in "Hand book of Internet". But after visiting your site I realised that it is not so. So why do you write not correct things in it. Hope you enjoyed our travelling to my country.

Travel is the spice of life. I congratulate you on the documentory style of your pages and give thanks to the information you provide as well as the inspiration. My wife and I are heading to South east Asia in September and the pages I researched here have helped a great deal with planning our itinerarie. As a photographer myself I genuinley appreciated your off the track reports. May you always travel with the wind at your back.....

Amazing that you have done so much travelling! I was a bit surprised to see that you haven't explored the Caribbean islands (Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago etc.), but I'm certain that you'll get around to it someday. :) Great job with the site...it's very informative and inspirational.

What a delight to find you, travelling is my greatest joy,
I usually go overseas every couple of years having returned in October from the U.K.alas I got caught up in the floods in Kent which was an unforgetable experience,
I am looking forward to spending many happy hours with you.

I enjoyed the web site. I'm writing a travel essay about Elmina and your pictures brought back the pain and horror I felt when visiting the castle. It didn't occur to me, a stuffy American, that people other than those in the United states feel responsible for the atrocities committed at the castle and for the rest of the people's lives. Thanks for opening my eyes to that.

I like your site.I enjoy your travel journal and at the same time I envy that you travel a lots. I'm sorry that you felt that Asian veils themselves for you.I think Asian is one of people who difficult to welcome outcomes even for the same Asian. But the other hand, I felt the same feeling as you felt when I visited Europe. So, I think it is not because Asian or European, it depends how people feel. I believe so. Because I met a lots nice people in Europe. Well...I'll come to see your site again! and don't hesitate to communicate with Asian. They'll be kind to you when they find you are very nice person. Thank you for showing nice site!

Brilliant site mate, but the one comment I'll make is that you seem to have done things in a bit of a whistle stop tour of the world - relax and enjoy. Out of interest, you say how you felt excluded and shut out in Asia. That's how Asians feel in Europe! Beefy at http://www.wkyo.freeserve.co.uk and http://uk.geocities.com/beefnetuk
