Secure a Lifetime of International Adventures with a TimesharePat Conroy once said, "Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never beak off from the journey." When you travel your adventures live on in your memories for the rest of your life. International travel is one of the most adventurous things you can do. As you learn to explore a new and different locale you will undoubtedly learn something about your self as well. However, the reality of following your dreams of worldwide travel can become expensive. One convenient way to secure cost-effective lodgings year after year anywhere your adventures take you is to buy timeshare. You might be wondering how purchasing a vacation property in one locale can take you all over the world. It's really quite simple. Timeshares are extremely flexible. In fact, one of the major benefits of vacation property ownership is the world of vacation possibilities that are opened up when you buy timeshare. There are a couple of ways owners of timeshare can use their property to travel the world. They can either choose to purchase within a vacation club like Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt, for example, or they can choose to supplement their timeshare purchase with an exchange company membership. These methods work differently, but ultimately their goal is the same: to provide owners with maximum flexibility to move freely within their respective networks. There are benefits and drawbacks to both methods and it is up to you as a potential buyer to determine which system works best with your vacation lifestyle, needs, desires and budget. Vacation clubs, like their hotelier counterparts, will have multiple properties: some international, some not. Generally, ownership of one property within a vacation club will give owners access to all of the properties within that network. That means that you may be able to use your Marriott timeshare in Hawaii to travel to Marriott's France location. When you buy timeshare with a vacation club you are paying for a certain level of quality and service that you can expect at all of their worldwide properties. As such, vacation club memberships tend to be more expensive than other timeshare options. And, because vacation clubs lose money when owners buy timeshare resale (from a previous owner, rather than directly from the resort) some vacation clubs are now putting restrictions on usage with resale purchases. Marriott, for example, will not allow owners who have purchased their timeshare resale to participate in their points program (the program that allows free travel within the network.) In order for owners of resale Marriott timeshare to travel within the network, they would need to purchase membership with a third-party exchange company (Marriott affiliates with Interval International, but Resort Condominiums International, or RCI, is the largest and therefore more expansive.) Exchange companies are not timeshares. Instead, they are used to supplement your vacation property timeshare by offering maximum flexibility. These third-party organizations create affiliations with resorts all over the world. They then offer membership to owners of these timeshares. Membership allows owners to travel to thousands of resorts within a worldwide network by trading their time at their home resort. Exchange companies do tend to offer more flexibility than vacation clubs, but the guarantee of quality is not necessarily there. Additionally, exchange companies do require membership that is not usually included in the cost of your timeshare purchase. However, when you purchase resale you will not only save thousands on your purchase, you may also receive bonus' with your property like exchange company memberships, banked weeks or bonus points. When resorts sell timeshare they are looking to generate a profit. Rarely will they offer extra's and their prices will always be inflated to cover expenses like marketing fees and salesmen's commissions. If you purchase your property from a reputable timeshare reseller or previous owner, on the other hand, you wont have to deal with any aggressive salesmen and you can often score bonus' simply by asking. A timeshare is a great way to secure accommodation for all of your international adventures.
