It is difficult not to meet fishermen in the Seychelles. You can see them in action everywhere, almost any time of the day. Walking around on of the islands, enjoying the views of the sea, basking on a beach in the sun: whatever you do, you come across them. The seas are abundant with fish, and it must not be difficult to catch fish here. As soon as you put on a mask and start to snorkel or dive, you are amazed at the amount of fish in all sizes and colours. From the beach, you can often see them jump out of the water. 
Fishermen sometimes use nets or baskets as everywhere else in the world to catch fish. The braver souls, however, take out a simple harpoonlike weapon and go hunting while wading through the shallow waters. Or you see them coming back from their catch, with boats full of sometimes huge fish, still trying to breathe. Instead, they will probably be on a table somewhere that same evening. It is impossible not to eat fresh fish on the Seychelles. 
Fishermen sometimes also throw out a net, and come back to the beach after 10 minutes to pull the net ashore. Amazingly, it is already full, with marketwomen waiting for the fish to be taken out of the net and put onto a string (sometimes still alive...). Even further away from the sea, you can see people cycling around with fish hanging from their bikes, and selling directly on the streets. While the fishermen rest, their boats still decorate the sea and beaches.
